Kerns, printed pages 54–55, calls this George Walton the signer of the Declaration of Independence, son of Robert Walton Jr. and Mary Hughes, born in December 1749 in Cumberland County and died 2 February 1804 in Augusta, Georgia. He distinguishes him from George Walton, son of John, of Brunswick County.
